Below is a series of resources for arts and cultural education program providers as part of the Arts Partners for Learning initiative. Please check back periodically for more information as it becomes available.
APL Program Handbook – This handbook provides an overview of Arts Partners for Learning for program providers who have been accepted into the initiative via the RFP process. It explains standards, policies and many other issues that are crucial for serving as an APL program. APL program providers should share this guide with their staff who will be working with schools on this initiative.
FAQs for APL Partners – This set of frequently asked questions will help cultural partners understand APL procedures at a glance. It may be updated periodically and we encourage program providers to send us their important questions that are not addressed.
Curriculum Guide Template – This downloadable template serves as a guide for cultural partners to create their program guides for distribution to schools. Cultural partners should download the form and complete one guide for each program a cultural organization has on the APL roster.
Program Worksheet – This downloadable worksheet is intended to help partners plan out their programs in terms of curricular ties, tag words, and associated program costs. One should be completed for each program a cultural organization has on the APL roster.
The Emergence of the Teaching Artist – This 2003 article by Eric Booth, one of the leading proponents for the field of teaching artistry, answers a few of the fundamental questions about Teaching Artists such as, “What is a teaching artist?” & “What is the difference between Artist and Teaching Artist?”

Common Core Resources – This is a series of resources for arts and cultural education providers on the Common Core State Standards which have been adopted by 46 states. APL programs and professional development will address these standards.
National Arts Standards – This is the link for the National Core Standards in the Arts. The website will serve as a resource for cultural partners to create their program worksheets and curriculum guides.
NYS ELA Common Core Learning Standards – This is a link to the PDF file for the Common Core Learning Standards in English Language Arts.
NYS Math Common Core Learning Standards – This is a link to the PDF file for the Common Core Learning Standards in Mathematics.
Common Core and the Arts – This website contains numerous sources of information for linking the Common Core Learning Standards to the arts.
NYS Learning Standards Reference Sheet – This link connects to a quick reference sheet on New York State Learning Standards in subjects that have not yet been converted to the Common Core Learning Standards.
