We are pleased to offer the opportunity for cultural organizations to participate in programming through the Arts Partners for Learning Initiative (APL). The goals of this initiative include expanding access to arts education for children in the eight counties of Western New York, and improving the capacity of cultural organizations in these counties to provide quality creative learning programs.
We are looking for arts and cultural programs, professional development for teachers, and outside of school program proposals provided by not for profits. Programs may include residencies of 3 to 12 sessions, programs that may be customized for individual classrooms or schools in partnership with teachers, hands-on workshops, docent tours, performances, field trips. Non-arts, cultural organizations may submit programs including those focusing on science, math, history, architecture, etc.
If you already have a program with APL and wish to change or submit a new one, please fill out a 2016/17 RFP, as there have been some changes.
If your organization’s programs are selected, the programs will be marketed with personal outreach mailings and emails to all schools in the eight counties of WNY, which include Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming counties, and featured on the APL website at aplwny.org. Schools will be able to book APL programs using a match with funding. Please note that this match will only be available for long-term residencies. All programs will participate in consistent preparation of curriculum guides, data collection, and evaluation in order to monitor program impact, and secure sustained funding for the initiative.
A limited number of programs will be selected for participation in APL for the school year. The number of participating organizations will be decided based on the number of qualifying programs received.
The submission deadline is Thursday, March 31, 2016.
A panel of educators and cultural specialists will review submitted applications for programs, and new programming partners will be announced by May 13, 2016. Professional development for participating organizations will be offered early August 2016.
